It’s a Jungle Out There!

Kate Hoge and Molly Miller, activities directors, and the High School Student Council, planned an amazing event called “It’s a Jungle Out There” for the 2008 Fall Homecoming Banquet. The students were quite surprised at the transformation of the gym as evidenced by their positive comments. It truly felt as if they were transported to the jungle. The students were treated to musical entertainment by their peers Eric Smith, Jordan Farewell, Dawson Young, Billy Corbin, Cameron Beste and Austin Rosene. The group performed an arrangement of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and Eric sang “The Circle of Life”.

A special appearance was made by a friendly gorilla who made his rounds to every table and was gracious to pose for photos. He was quick to find the exit when “Wild Things” arrived and brought in their 15 foot python, spider monkey, hissing cockroaches from Madagascar, a lemur porcupine, a baby alligator and an 8 foot long crocodile. Many students willingly volunteered before they new they were going to hold the 15 foot python. Their presentation was quite informative as well as entertaining. Laughs were brought to us by Jazzy Grammer and Jen Menary as they recited Jungle Jokes. The students were quite creative as they competed in the animal sounds contest. Prizes went to the winning table.

Catering was provided by Christopher’s Old World Deli in Grass Valley. On the menu was tri tip, chicken, steamed vegetables, basmati rice, tossed green salad and rolls. Thank you to all the parents who helped bake and prepare the dessert of the evening, Volcano cake.
