The memory of certain events just “stick” with a person. Special events like births, weddings, unique vacations, and amazing sunsets are simple examples of events that conjure up great memoires.
I guess for a high school principal one of those memories that “stick” is senior high graduation. Certainly the finality of the event itself is memorable as you realize these young men and women will never again darken the doors of Forest Lake Christian School as students. Often the graduate is the last of a family group, and in those cases, the memories take on a different level of consideration.
On Friday, June 4th the thirty sixth graduating class of Forest Lake Christian School collected their diplomas at Bayside Church of Granite Bay. The fifty six graduates joined the ranks of over fourteen hundred others who have gone before them to become alumni of this wonderful educational institution.
Easter was a wonderful time of celebration at our elementary campus. Children participated in lessons and activities which focus their hearts and minds on the resurrected Christ.
On Tuesday, March 17th the Senior Economics Classes held their annual “Apprentice Day” project. This class project is based upon the television show of the same name. This years Apprentice Day was a tremendous success. Nearly three thousand dollars was raised by the Senior Class of 2010. The money was donated to help rebuild an orphanage in Haiti. The Competition was close but “Arriba” came out on top. All of the seniors did a fantastic job of putting together their different “restaurants” and selling their wares to the hungry students, parents, and faculty. It was an effective, hands-on way of teaching the seniors important economic principles. Not only was it a fun educational experience, but it was also a lucrative one.
An exhibit of incredible significance to our Judeo-Christian heritage is coming to Bayside Church of Granite Bay this spring!
Thanks to a very generous donation, the entire high school student body will be able to attend without charge. This will be an awesome experience for our students to view the Dead Sea Scroll fragments and other incredible relics of historic Christianity. Our students will be traveling to Bayside Church on Thursday, April 22, between 10:00am and 1:00pm. Parents, please be sure to sign the permission slip and return it to the High School Office.
The exhibit runs for several weeks from April 8 through May 15. If you are interested in attending this event yourself, click here.

Christopher Columbus, Thomas Edison, Ann Sullivan, & Helen Keller were just a few of the visitors to Combie campus this week as 6th grade students presented their annual Wax Museum. Under the direction of teachers Ana DeGraaf and Stacie Bagley, elementary students were invited to learn from the many famous persons who participated in this year’s event. Well done sixth grade!
Ritchart, Forest Lake bow out of postseason By Ray Hacke, Journal Sports Writer
RIPON – Given all he’s accomplished at Forest Lake Christian, Josh Ritchart’s high school basketball career surely deserved a happier ending.
Still, the Forest Lake Christian standout focused on the positive after his team lost to Ripon Christian 57-35 Friday night in the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V playoffs.
Ever the team player – albeit one who owns most FLC boys basketball records, ranks high in the statistical categories in which he doesn’t hold records and led the Falcons to back-to-back section title games in his sophomore and junior years – Ritchart was quick to praise his teammates for the effort they put forth Friday night.
“It’s always tough (to lose) knowing you’re not going to play in high school again,” Ritchart said. “But we played our best – we never gave up.

On Tuesday, March 17th the Senior Economics Classes will sponsor their annual “Apprentice Day” project. This class project is based upon the television show of the same name. Students are placed into groups for the sake of competition and assigned a task to accomplish. The project is designed to teach the seniors the many concepts and activities that go into running a business. The goal for each group is to raise as much money as they can and then donate the proceeds. In order to raise money, teams will be selling food, drinks, desserts and raffle tickets.
This year the proceeds will be going to Haiti to help rebuild an orphanage.
All are welcome to attend Apprentice Day.
Please come out and support their efforts by enjoying some great food and fun.
