The “Honor the Legacy – Ignite the Future” Scholarship Gala and Retirement Tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Schoellerman was a fantastic success. Nearly 300 people gathered on Friday night, October 2nd, in the high school gym. We were inspired by the music of Christian recording artist, Lincoln Brewster, and his worship team which includes five of our own Forest Lake Christian School alumni. A powerful message from Ray Johnston motivated generous giving to begin a scholarship endowment fund.
Julie Moskus and Lori Kirk presented a history of the school since its inception in 1966. God’s faithfulness has been seen throughout the years, starting from the first gift of land to the school by Willard Schoellerman’s parents, Franklin and Bernice. No one could have imagined that FLCS would become the institution it is today. Jean Schoellerman says, “We only went through the steps that the Lord provided. We didn’t have a lifetime plan for what has become FLCS.”
After the Gala, Jean said, “The event was so spectacular that I felt like I had had a wonderful dream. Each part of the evening was perfect. The transformed gym was unbelievable. Every person in attendance was such a delight. The food was perfect, along with Ray Johnston and Lincoln – whoever would have thought that people of that caliber would take the time to come up here for this event.”
Thank you to the many people who worked to plan and carry out this special event. And especially, thank you to both Willard and Jean Schoellerman, who followed God’s lead and worked through the decades by God’s grace to leave such an enduring legacy.
