Meet Carney Briggs

With granddaughters attending FLCS in middle and high school, Carney Briggs is excited to use his life experience to help increase the scholastic and spiritual well-being of students and staff, while promoting a safe and exciting learning experience for all. Carney grew up in southern California, married in 1979, and the couple moved north where their three children would be born and raised. In the late 1980s, the church he attended in Auburn called him into the ministry as an evangelist, where he helped establish congregations both in Placerville and Grass Valley (later moving down to Roseville). Though formally no longer an evangelist, Carney continues a leadership and teaching role at Roseville.

Prior to serving as an evangelist, Carney led the homebuilding crew for Briggs Construction, taught middle school history, and most recently worked for the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services where he and his team assisted public entities and private nonprofits in recovering from disasters (e.g., the River Fire near Colfax in 2021, and the statewide COVID-19 Pandemic).

Carney has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History, as well as a Secondary Teaching Credential in Social Science. He currently teaches online history classes through the University of Massachusetts Global. He looks forward to both leading and serving the FLCS community.
